Whenever I walk through the city of Hong Kong, the line from the Guns
'n Roses song, "Welcome to the jungle..." pops into my head because of
the massive number of people, the many skyscrapers - the general
hustle and bustle. The photos below do not do that sentiment justice.
In the future, I'll take more shots of the people, the crowds, etc. to try
to capture that mood. For now, the pictures below will have to do. You can probably find better pictures of this part of Hong Kong at your local book store. |

Obligatory shot of Central (HK Island) from Victoria Peak. The Bank of
China tower near the middle of the picture is perhaps the most
distinctive building on downtown Hong Kong.

View of Central from across the harbor in Kowloon.

The unique Lippo towers in Central (of the famous Lippo group, from which the Clinton campaign got all those questionable donations in the '96 campaign). By the way, the towers don't really lean like that - it's just some clever trick photography. |

View of Kowloon (across from HK Island) from the Peak. Pictured here
is part of the on-going land reclamation, which is chewing up more and
more of the ever shrinking harbor between HK Island and Kowloon.

Some of the most expensive real estate in the world. These are the so-called "Mid-Levels," which are located between Central and the rising mountains behind Central. This shot also illustrates part of the problem with my picture taking technique. The picture is taken directly into the setting sun light. |
